Bug bites

My feet at Lake Superior
I would love to have been outside more of our stay here, but unfortunately I am a banquet for the blood thirsty mosquitos. I wonder if one gets more allergic to them over time. I don't remember being this affected by them when I was younger.

Branches sway and crackle
and the chase is on;
squirrels run up and down the tall trunk
spiraling round.

No one is caught
that is not the aim of the game.

Nostalgia

Krista, Nathan ,Lauryn
Memory has a funny way of showing up sometimes. A time and a place comes back through a photograph. Such a feeling of sweet innocence and happiness wells up in me now as I remember. Good times.

Homecoming

Dad giving Lauryn a hug at an Emory Concert in 2004

My dad, Papa to Lauryn, went home yesterday after having surgery and spending 45 days, either in the hospital or the rehab center, because of a fall which broke his hip. He is eighty years old.

Go Fish!

My hand

Today was a "slower" day filled with walking, reading and much game playing. And yet I still feel exhausted. I'm ready to cuddle with Martin and watch a movie to finish the evening off.

Martin - fire starter and veggie dog roaster
Swimming in Lake Michigan. The water was clear and chilly. Later we had a driftwood fire and picnic by Lake Superior. I collected some stones for mom's labyrinth.

Travel

2 planes and a rather long car ride later we made it to Newberry, MI. And a few hours later I crashed.
